Lifetime Metals Coating

A: Prepare the surface by doing a power wash of the whole surface area, then tape off and cover windows, vents or anything you don’t want to get coated. Afterwards, use FLOOD® Penetrol® with a rag and wipe any rust spots on the metal. After 24 hours, the Penetrol® will allow the Perma-bond Primer to penetrate the corroded parts of the metal, creating a long-lasting seal that prevents further rust corrosion and prevents the rust from seeping through the coating. Afterwards spray Lifetime Metals Coatings on the metal, making sure to not put it on too heavy to avoid getting runs or drips in the paint. It may take more than one coat to achieve desired results. It is important to thoroughly clean your sprayer after use of Permalast products as it is difficult to lean out after it has dried.

A: We designed Lifetime Metals Coatings to stick well to metal so it is very important to properly cover any surfaces you don’t want to get coated. That being said, if you do have an unwanted drip or spill we recommend using Goof Off®, a wire brush and warm water to brush at the spill until it clears up. Be careful not to use too much pressure as some metals scratch easily, leaving a scuff on the structure.

A: There are three things to keep in mind before applying any Permalast product: humidity, temperature and weather. The higher the humidity, the longer it will take to dry and vice versa. Permalast coating systems will fail if applied at temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit and below temperatures of 35 degrees Fahrenheit during the curing process. It is vital to check the weather in advance so that you know if there’s a chance for rain/snow, whether the humidity changes drastically throughout the day and most important of all is to make sure it does not drop below 35 degrees Fahrenheit at night or go above 90 during the hottest period of the day. As long as you keep these things in mind and plan thoroughly, you can use Permalast products year round.

A: We offer a 30 year warranty on all our products because we know they will stand the test of time! You may notice the original color change slightly over time, with regular power washing and routine maintenance (such as repairing any damage to the metal itself) you’ll see that it shall not crack, peel, blister, flake, or corrode
